Tanning: What do i do?

I just started tanning for prom. i think i have went four times so far and i have a few questions.

1. The place above my upper lip doesnt really look like its tanning will it eventually look like the rest of my face?

2. There is lotion in the tanning room should i put this on before or after i tan?

3. My skin that hasnt seen sun very much is really red... but the rest of my skin doesnt really seem to be changing much... what do i do?

4. When i am in the tanning bed should i just lay there or turn so i get a better angle on some of my body?

Thanks!

May I suggest that you cease tanning this way as it will cause you more skin problems than just getting a tan. It will age your skin beyond your wildest nightmares. I knew a girl who was 27 and she looked 57 from too much tanning bed time. It can also excerbate any kind of joint pain and other body problems.

You shouldn't tan at all! Tanning is bad for your health, and I'm not going to preach all about skin cancer because I know you about it.

I suggest getting a tanning lotion that gradually darkens your skin into a healthy, summery glow. It's fairly inexpensive and is void of the risks that tanning in tanning beds brings.

The reason your upper lip isn't tanning may be because it is dry. The area around the mouth tends to be dryer, so I would reccomend putting lotion around the area a couple times per day.
It depends on which type of lotion is in the tanning room. If it's just plain lotion, put it on after you tan to make it last. You probably want to get your own tanning lotion to put on before you tan, it adds moisture to your skin and increases your tan.
Don't tan if you are burned. Even if you have to skip a few days, wait until all redness is gone. It is really bad for your skin to tan when you are burned!
You can reposition yourself while in the bed, to make sure you tan everywhere, but you don't need to move around too much to ensure that everywhere gets tanned.
Lastly, always apply lotion before and after tanning!! Your skin will thank you!
