As a famous Medical Doctor friend of mine once explained to me about tanning beds, I'll relay what he explained to me about them. It can accelerate any cancerous cells in your body, it can accelerate cavities in your teeth, it's similar to putting your body into a microwave oven and cooking it, it accelerate wrinkles on the face, it accelerates any joint damage in any of your joints, and ages your body overal, and you risk potential eye damage from the rays. After Dr. Joel Wallach carefully explained these dangers to me I never went tanning bedding. I only get any suntan from the sun in the sky. I don't even bother with the "spray on" tan or bronzing cream either as that is not good for your skin. Dermatologists and cancer specialists just love these newfangled gadgets that have people flocking to them in droves.
I'm not telling you not to tan in a tanning bed, I'm just telling you what my friend told me about it.
A former co-worker of mine used to go tanning all the time. I thought she was in her 40's and was shocked to find out she was only 28 years old due to all the deep wrinkles in her face. She had a very dark tan also.
The rays eminating from the tanning system attack the bacteria already present in your teeth and excelerate the bacteria growth causing cavities to come forth in your mouth much, much sooner than normal.

I don't want to disuade anyone from tanning themselves naturally or unnaturally.. I just wanted you to be a more informed consumer of potentially harmful products out there. My friend the doctor told me some swell horror stories about people and tanning beds.
One other co-worker of mine who had carpel tunnel surgery on both wrists kept going and getting tanned on a weekly basis. Short story - her carpel tunnel got so bad and the fact she had already had surgery on both wrists, her surgeon could not re-do the operation in a big hurry.
Momma - in the posting above you gave a site which was the Indoor Tanning Association. What better site to give none of the cons about what really happens to your body.
When I said it accelerates cavities in your teeth - I meant that when you have a small cavity already present in your teeth - the tanning bed will accelerate the cavity making it worse much quicker.
I have noticed that there are less and less of these tanning salons around any longer. I guess it's because more women are smartening up and stopping their patronage.
Like I said earlier, I'm not telling anyone not to use a tanning bed. I'm just pointing out the possible ramifications of this practice.

I also spoke with my Aunt's new husband who is a dentist, and he said this isn't true.
And I'm actually noticing more and more tanning salons..I guess it depends on where you live..
