To strip or not to strip.

Recently, I made a topic here asking how to fade my hair dye. But my efforts are simply tiring and worthless!

I have been thinking of going to a hairdresser and having the hair color stripped from my hair. I'm worried, however, about the after-effects and if this will damage my hair. About a year ago, I dyed my hair a dark red with permanent dye. Terrible mistake. In June, I dyed my hair a jet black, again, with a permanent dye. I originally enjoyed the black. In July on the 10th, I dyed it again with the same black hair dye, as my roots were showing. In case you are wondering, the black dye I used is the L'Oreal Feria Black Leather hair dye, which is a 20.

Anyway. I am completely tired of dyeing my poor hair and I wish to return to blond. So, what are the risks of stripping hair? I'm guessing that it will turn orange if I do get it stripped. I'm also guessing that it will leave my hair completely dry and could potentially damage it greatly.

Thank you in advance for your replies.
