ready to chop it all off!

Please help - i have had it with my hair! i was growing out highlights for about 8 months and had probably 4 inches of natural growth. It didn't look bad, but my hairstylist said she could die over the part with highlights to match my correct color. well, she actually had to end up dying my entire head. when i left the salon, my naturally light brown hair with faded blond highlights was a very dark medium brown color. it has since faded a little bit - but has returned to looking uneven. the bottom highlighted part has faded to a reddish medium brown and the top part is still pretty dark.

i was tempting to go and buy a light ash brown to die over this mess. i really didn't want to get highlights again either, because the whole point was that i was trying to grow out my natural color. any advice? the only thing i can think of is to chop it off! please help!

Dcchick123, please do not use a box color on your hair, it will make matters worse. Using a light brown color on dark hair will not make it light brown. I recommend that you go back to the salon and let her correct the mistake. Most salons will try to correct color problems and will do it at no additional cost, unless you used a box color on it. If you don't want the same hairstylist to fix your hair, the salon will appoint you another hairstylist to correct the problem.
