I need to lighten my lowlights
I spent 2 1/2 hours in the salon yesterday. First the highlights were way too light so she put a toner in to darken them. It darkened my whole head. What can I do at home that will lighten them just a bit?

I know how you feel, except mine went the other way. I have red/auburn color hair. I went to my sister and asked her to frost my hair. She did, we left it on the correct amount of time, went in to wash it out... my hair was frosted all right... I was a PLATINUM BLONDE!! All over my head!! I went around for 2 weeks with platinum blonde hair, and then after the 2 weeks were up, I re-colored it a deeper blonde which turned out to be where I wanted it to be in the first place. Don't fret, wait 2 weeks, and re-color your hair again. That way, it won't get burnt.

    Good Luck!

Artificial hair color will fade and get slightly lighter each time you shampoo your hair. You can try fading your hair color by using a dandruff shampoo, clarifying shampoo, or dish detergent such as Dawn. However, I think you should go back to the salon and have them fix your hair. Obviously, the stylist made a mistake when he/she applied a dark toner over the highlights. Don't be afraid to go back. Most salons will fix their mistakes free of charge. Explain the salon manager that you're not happy with the results, and they will correct the color.

Use peroxide cream developer and shampoo (equal parts). Leave on your hair 20 -30 minutes and rinse. 30 - 40 volume developer is better than 20. Also you can use Shimmer Lights to whiten highlights.
