Need to know how to remove orange/brassy tones from hair.
I have natural blond hair. I dyed it a dark red and it turned violet/plum color. To attempt to get rid of it I bought a color lightener that would lighten my hair so I could color it. It turned it a bronze/copper color. I went to Sally's and bought a Quick Blue bleach with a 30 vol. developing cream. It lightened a few spots to light orange but otherwise it did nothing. Did I do something wrong? I read online that I could use a blue based toner, would that work? Or could I dye another color over it? Or if you have any other ideas that would be great. If you can not answer my question could you refer me to someone who could please? Also how much does it cost to get highlights and a hair cut at you school? Thanks for your time!

You would need to use a blue/purple toner in your hair. Purple gets rid of yellow, and blue gets rid of orange, and will restore your colour to a natural blonde. After the treatment you can use a purple shampoo to maintain the colour and keep the brassiness away. Minerals in the water will turn your hair orange over time. Clairol makes one called shimmering lights. But these are drying so you would need to use a good conditioner afterwards. Also be careful not to leave the shampoo in too long (15-30 min) or your hair will turn slightly purple. If this happens it will wash out in a few shampoos.
