go to your hairstylist,
They will strip the color out of your hair and replace it with the lighter color....
this must be done by a professional!!!!!
please don't use the home kits as they will sserverly damage the hair strands....
thinkk buggers or slime for hair!
this will cost a lil bit of money but heres a money saving tip go to the cosmotology school and ask for the most senior of the students explaine that you really want good results and would love to give some deserving student a chance to do this.
Best of luck.
former cosmotology student!!

I cant afford to go to a pro, but am gunna give it a go at trying to life the redness of my hair on my own.

I was natural a dirty blonde colour and dyed it a watermelon colour. Its faded alot now and you can see the blonde coming through, so gunna try and see what a ash blonde colour will do if i put it on top.

I've heard an ash blonde can lift the redness? Is this true?

If your hair is in good condition, you can re-color it right away. However, if your hair is in bad condition, I recommend doing a deep conditioning treatment at least twice a week until your hair is healthy again. It's very important that your hair is good shape if you're planning to color or bleach it. In order to go from red to blonde, you will need to pre-lighten your hair with bleach to the level of lightest that you want and then apply a blonde toner. To avoid a hair coloring disaster, it's best to get it professionally done.
