    Hi everyone,

    Thanks for inquiring Max111.

I've been meaning to give an update. When I last posted, I said the residual vein was breaking up and that it still was fading.

I'm ecstatic to report that I am completely healed now!

I haven't worn cover up in two weeks, and will not need to again.

I go out showing my face proudly, no more dangling a lock of hair to hide the hideous vein.

I have a completely new face and I have a fresh lease on life. Every time I look in the mirror, I laugh giddily.

Everyone around me has noticed my new confidence and commented on it (although no one really knows why, even though they've looked at my face for years!)

I'm much more confident with man and I've been totally enjoying the dating game more.

I actually want to take care of myself and care about keeping my body healthy. Before, I only loathed myself and only now do I realize how down that got me. Hey, we all learn to live with it.

So, in answer to your questionL YES!

I totally recommend it. Don't wait another day. I'm SO glad I just went and did it because now I have that much longer to enjoy life with the face I was always meant to have. This is 100% the answer to our problems. I repeat: Go for it and do not wait!!

Thank you CLEANBREAK but my question was directed to cjfox who followed your advice.

If you can take a picture of yourself now and post it to see how you actually look now, that would be really helpful! Thanks very much.

And cjfox please give us an update! Thanks

    Hey!

Yeah, how did it go CJFox, was it successful or haven't you flown out there yet?

I tried schlerotherapy under one eye last week. I couldn't tell if it had worked at first because was quite swollen. However, the swelling and bruising has now totally gone but the veins have not :(

I thought I would at least see some difference but nada so far. I don't know whether to go back or not for a second session. I've emailed him and am waiting to see what he says.

    Will keep you posted.

    Hi

    Okay update...

The veins I had treated have gone. Its been over a week now and still looks good. The veins I had treated were down from the temple toward under neath the eye, but the outside area of the eye. I did want to treat some veins right under the eye on the inside corners near the nose but the coolglide won't get in there.

I hope they develop a smaller head to do this in the future.

However all the results you see on before and after on DR Beramans site are 100% accurate. After a 2 min procedure the vein was gone, and the slight pain was worth it, just clench your teeth!

Dr Berman is a very nice man indeed.

My dark circle haven't gone because I have other problems near the inside of the under eye area such as thin skin, red/blue colour and som smaller blue veins. But for the large veins I discussed earlier this treatment does work.

Now its just a case of getting the rest done. Good luck. I recommend 100%!

Wow, that's great CJFox! I'm really pleased for you! So what does the treatment actually involve? It's a laser yes, not an injection? I can't work out what the difference is because I've had two lots of laser treatment and neither of them worked?

I'm going back for a second session of schlerotherapy so will see what happens then...

I seriously hope it works because I can't stand these veins for much longer.

Last month I went to a cosmetic surgeon to see if anything could be done for a large blue vein under my eye. I was told that the procedure I need does not fall under their expertise and I was referred to two different doctors. One was Tina Alster (in DC) whose office specializes in advanced laser surgical and cosmetic techniques. I told them my problem and they said it is very difficult to address but they could probably do something. The catch was that the consultation would cost $500... pretty steep for someone to just look at you and examine whether they can help you or not.

The other doctor I was referred was Dr. David Greene in Bethesda, MD. His office specializes in the treatments of vein and I had a long consultation with him a couple of days ago (cost was $150). And he told me the following:

-The MOST current effective treatment of blue veins around the facial area is SCLEROTHERAPY. I told him what about the cool glide excel and he said what lasers do is very temporary. Meaning with blue veins, they hide the problem but do not resolve it. I told him I've seen pictures of it on a website of patients cured and he said basically (and I'm paraphrasing here), "trust me, it is a temporary fix. What they do is take a picture right after the procedure and weeks later when the vein returns, they say your situation is rare and another treatment needs to performed. You spend more money but a few weeks later you end up in the same situation again."

'KeepTrying', don't feel discouraged. Dr. Greene told me after the procedure you swell up pretty bad for a week or so and then it'll take a few weeks for the vein to die away. It'll first turn from bluish to greenish and then slowly fade away. He said for most, typically only one treatment is needed and results last about 10 years.

He told me that Scleortheraphy would solve my problem and I have a big thick blue vein circling one of my eyes. The procedure essentially kills the vein... the procedure itself only takes a few minutes but one will have to wait several weeks to see full results as the vein slowly dies. His site if anyone is interested is Botox Bethesda Maryland | Facial | Cosmetic Skin Care | Wrinkles | Laser Hair Removal | MD.

I'm scheduled for the procedure in two weeks. I will provide update afterwards.

Hi fx33, very interesting news. Good luck for the procedure in two weeks and
Yes please advise us of the result.

To all others who have been treated with the CoolGlide Excel Laser, did the vein really come back after a few weeks?

Hello everyone. I have the same problem. I have 2 big veins under both of my eyes. I went to a clinic at London to do a CoolGlide Excel Laser this morning. The veins was gone directly after the laser. I was soooo happy about the result. However, roughly after 1 hour, the vein under the left eye came back :confused: I am so upset now. I decide to wait for a few weeks. If it is still there, maybe I will go for one more time.

May I ask the procedure of CoolGlide Excel Laser you guys did in the States? What my Dr did for me is apply on the cool gel first , and put on the eye mask, then begun to do the laser. It took about 5 mins. Is this the right process?

    Thank you !!

    Hi gigiufy,

Don't depsair. THe same thing happened to me. If you're like me, the cord is still thee but will die and dissapate. Mione is completely gone. It took about three weeks to fade and it looked even worse at first! But it is totally gone. I'm really paranoid that it will come back after what that other person said a few posts back, but so far, so good.

After I frst got it done, I could literally feel that cord still there, but now all racea re gone. It's true that veins naturally want to regrow, but I think the beast is dead. Good luck and be patient!

Charlize, I actually had it done today. The procedure from start to finish took about 15 min. The injection itself took about a minute.

Going in and obviously still my biggest concerns were blindness and stroke. A lot of doctors out there don't do this procedure because they fear that if the substance used to inject the vein reaches the veins near the eye it can paralyze them and in turn cause blindness. Dr. Green confidently said that the ocular veins that drain from the temple are not connected to any veins that feed the eyes. He said if there was a 1 in a million chance someone could lose their vision he would not perform this procedure and he has been doing this for over 10 years. Nevertheless one can't help but worry what the side effects may be. I'll let you all know what happens, assuming I don't drop dead from a stroke or something :) By the way, none of talk of stroke and blindness has actually occurred but rather just theorized. But one never knows. The bottom line is though if you are not going to trust a specialist then who are you going to trust?

Dr. Green apparently lectures around the country on this procedure and he said a lot of doctors don't do it because they don't have the training. He also said he is one of two doctors who does this. Below are some links referencing what he has to say. The oldest lecture I found is from 2001. So I know he has been doing this since at least then.

Reconsider sclerotherapy to treat facial veins.(Disease/Disorder overview) | Article from Skin & Allergy News | HighBeam Research

Reconsider sclerotherapy to treat facial veins. (01-OCT-05) Skin & Allergy News

Medical Spa Network :: Sclerotherapy Effective In Removing Facial Veins

During my procedure, he took before pictures and had an assistant help him. He also had some other doctor present to watch how the procedure is done.

I felt a little nauseous and light headed when the procedure was over. I'm not sure if it was because of my own thinking or from the actual injection. It lasted about a couple of minutes but I was shortly able to walk out and drive home. The staff and especially dr. green were very nice, encouraging, and polite. Dr. Green talked with we through the entire process, answered all my questions, and they brought me water and offered me some food when I felt light headed.

So now, it's been about 5 hours since the injection. The injection area right now is very pronounced meaning it is swollen... so swollen that not much of the vein is present. No bruising yet but Dr. Green said tomorrow morning I will be the worst because of the lying flat down while sleeping. Not a lot of discomfort so far yet. I'll keep everyone updated. I'm supposed to have a follow-up with Dr. Green once a month for three months. He does not charge for the follow-up. The procedure was $750. Next month I will find out if I need another injection but he believes it is unlikely. Most people only need one.

One last thing... I know there are laser's out there that remove veins. Keep in mind that the procedure you select depends on what type of vein you have. Mine is a thick blue one and apparently a laser would put me at risk for burning because a really high intensity is needed to eliminate blue veins and the skin near the eye is thin and obviously more prone to burning.

Sorry this was so long but hope this was helpful. I know the pain of dealing with these veins and hopefully this works for me as it has apparently for others. Let me know if you would like to know anything else.

Oh My Lord! Its so comforting to know that I'm not alone in this and someone else feels exactly the same. :) Im 15 and have these gross blue and purple veins all around my eyes to.

Both of these procedures sound pretty good but I'm horribly afraid of needles :( For the laser one and the needle one do they heal quick enough that I would be able to go out in public, like to school soon after? I was thinking I could go get it done on summer break or something but that's only 2 months.

And do the treatments have to be continual? I live in Canada and I don't think I could stay in another country for 3 months :p

Im so happy there's something I can do about it instead of sitting around feeling like a freak. Please keep us updated on whether the veins come back at all.

    Thanks so much!! :)

Hey fx33, thank you so much for all the information and great to hear that you actually had the treatment already done by Dr. Green. I´m from Germany and so far I have not found any doctor in Germany who would be willing to treat veins under the eyes because they either worry too much or just do not have the experience. I also do have a thick blue vein under my right eye so maybe treatment using sclerotherapy would be also right for me...

How do you feel today? Is the injection area still swollen and if not is there already a
Possibility to see if the vein is really gone?

Yes, please keep me updated on the progress of this - I have these ugly veins
Since I was a little girl and I want to get rid of it NOW! If Dr. Green or
Dr. Berman is the answer to this I would fly all the way from Germany to the US to have the treatment done.

Thanks again for all the detailed information which is indeed very very helpful.

Great thread. For us few people out there that suffer with this problem, it's reassuring to read that we are not alone, and are looking for solutions. I live in Newfoundland, and have been reading up on this situation for a couple years now, I am 22. From information I have gathered, the intense pulsed light and YAG lasers are the way to go. UNLESS you are willing to have surgery performed. I am not one of those people, surgery below the eye is a terrifying thought. The aforementioned procedures have enough possible side effects, without having to make incisions.

There is no sure way to know which is the best route. I would say I've been reading up about this as long as anyone has, and it seems there has been an exponential explosion of solutions posted on the internet in the past few months. As good as this is, internet info is not extremely reliable and cosmetologists are out to make money. They are facts. I don't think there is 100% truth to anything anyone tells you. It's up to us to decipher the truth from the bull, and make an educated decision on the route to take with regards to procedure, doctor, price range, etc.

Regardless, this problem is not the end of the world. IT SUCKS. I know if I could get rid of the problem, it would probably make everyday 100 times easier to get through, but I am very self conscious physically, no matter what other people tell me. Is it worth the risks? For me, yes. I'm fed up with it, thinking about those veins when you look people in they eyes is no way to go about a day.

Anyway, enough of my rambling, there has recently been a aesthetics clinic opened up in my city, the only one open in Atlantic Canada that treats blue veins under the eyes. I would say I have 2 very prominent veins under each eye. I have a consultation next Friday. They use a YAG 1064 laser to treat it, and on the site they say they treat blue veins under the eyes. Best case scenario, I pay 300 bucks and it totally goes away. Anything contrary will be rough for my situation as I am a student. I'll keep you updated, PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL. KEEP STRONG, BY THE END OF THIS THREAD ALL WHO HAVE POSTED SHOULD HAVE THIS PROBLEM REMEDIED, THIS IS OUR GOAL!

CleanBreak... Reading your thread has given me the motivation to get in contact with Dr.Berman. I have had extremely prominent veins under my eyes my whole life, as time has gone on they have got worse now concealer and foundation no longer covers them, Im sick of being asked if I have black eyes, Being 21 I should have confidence and should not want to hide away. My only concern is living in the UK and having to travel so far for this treatment.I am at the point where I am willing to try anything, CleanBreak if you see this I would appreciate any info you have on travelling hotels etc and the results you have now! As I'm 99 % certain I will be seeing D Berman soon. Thanks LittleLaydee xx

So... one week since my sclerotherapy with Dr. Green. Day 2 I had some slight swelling but nothing major or really noticeable. Day 3, some discoloration at bottom portion of vein in the morning but gone by night and hasn't come back since. Day 4 all swelling was gone. No bruising and no scars. As big and blue as the vein was, about 70% of it has faded in this week. I'm hoping by the time I go in for my follow up in three weeks it is all gone. Everyday the vein has visibly faded.

MinnieShutzie - to answer your question, typically only one treatment is necessary but I don't know how you can do the follow-ups with the dr. each month. The follow-ups determine if you need another treatment or not.

charlize242 - so far the treatment results have been amazing. I thought it would take weeks for the vein to go away, but after day 2 and each day after, the vein has become less visible.

I'll update again next week. Good luck to you all.
