small market vs. large market

What is the difference between small market teams vs. large market teams? What makes a team a large market team or a small market team? I thought it had to do with revenue the team brought it from ticket sales but I was not sure.

From what I read on the following site, it would appear to be the number of people that attend the games of particular teams. But, the definition as to what the markets are, also appear to be something that is debatable.
