My DW, and Me are watching the LA Angels play the Yankees tonight, and a question arose.
We both noticed that with the exception of the pitchers, the other position players were able to ward off the cold October night in New York with:
- Gloves.
- Neck warmers, see: Other articles.
- Caps with built-in ear warmers.
- Full head warmers that covered everything, but the players faces.
- Other articles of protection that defy description, mainly because the built-in server-censor won't allow the old-fashioned word ~ d i c k i e s ~ unless its double spaced
The pitcher pitched with no protection from the cold.
We both know that quite a few years ago Baseball changed the rule 'bout pitchers going to their mouth, especially in the colder months, (Whitey Ford would have a field day).
So the question is......
Are the pitchers banned by rule that they can't wear any article of clothing for hand protection (Thinking maybe it would increase their grip, thus increasing the "action" of the balls trajectory.
Or
Is it the pitchers preference? (Thinking it would decrease his "feeling or grip" on the ball)

btw.......Yanks just tied, Bottom of the 11th, no outs. 3 - 3
