I am nervous and feel like a failure--debt problems! I currently have about $16,000 in credit card debit. Cannot pay and this was not my intention! Currently I am being pursued by a law firm by Chase to collect on $8500. I stated I know I have this debt and cannot pay. I have no job and am not able to continue making payments on my mortgage as well. Debt occurred in Iowa in just my name. Just moved to Utah, husband has new home and cars in his name only. I stay at home with the boyz. Iowa house has not sold yet (in both our names). Question is what can Chase do to me? I'm terrified! We or I have nothing to give them. They told me to "be prepared" this a.m. Does that me that they will take me to court? What happens? How long can this go on? What if I start back to work in 3 or 4 yrs (not employed for 4yrs now). We cannot pay because we pay out the nose in student loan debt for just my husband. My student loans can be deferred for fin. hardship. Please advice, thank you!
