My husband has just started receiving disability benefits, can those benefits be garnished for a defaulted private loan?

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone elses. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread In the appropriate forum.

The answer is no. SS benefits are not subject to garnishment for unsecured, private debt.
