Summons for credit card debt

I was served last night at my house from Capitol One. They are suing me for $2100. I know that I owe the money and want to pay it back. I have two questions. The first one is do I have judgment against me already or if I ignore the summons then they will place a judgment against me? My second question is should I respond to the summons and say yes I owe the money, but if do that can I still negotiate for a lower amount with the law firm directly? I just want to make sure that I can offer full payment and try and lower the amount owed.

Right now there is no judgment against you as you were just served with the summons and complaint. If you ignore the summons and complaint a judgment will be entered against you after they have their lawsuit against you play out and the judge signs the order.

Contact whoever the attorney is that sent you this summons and complaint and talk to them about negotiation of a lower amount. They should be able to do some negotiating for you with Capitol One. If they do not want to negotiate for a lower amount then I would suggest you answer this complaint asap.
