Social Security Garnishment

Can creditors garnishee a person on low Social Security. In other words can a Social Security Check be garnishee? Also can a bank account with only social security in it be attatched?

I'm not sure about your "run of the mill" creditors....BUT I do know for a fact that the IRS can and will garnish a persons SS. My mothers SS check was garnished for back taxes that she owed and it was almost 20% of her monthly amount.

As for your question on the bank account, I do not know about that.
