permanent resident

My husband and I went through financial and medical hardships. We got sued by one creditor, which we had 3 accounts with but others settled with us.We paid our bills through garnishment of my checks and settlements of our income tax return. We got papers that said a judgement was released against us. The case should have been closed. My husband and I had joint accounts. Now the lawyers are saying the account is settled with me but not my husband and are taking him to court to vacate the judgement and reopen the case. They are claiming that they creditor closed the case. I think the account was opened by phone. We live in Oklahoma. He is a permanent resident but not a citizen. Can he enter into a contract?I provided proof our bills were paid but he still has to go to court.Any advice?
