If you have been sued and have a judgement against you, but there is no money to pay, not much you can do.

Ok maybe you need to explain further. Are you being garnished? Is the problem that more than you can afford is being taken out?

Why would you get a loan when you can just make payments to the creditor?

That doesn't answer all that I asked. Are you currently being garnished? If so, how much is being taken?

Ok, So your options are to try and negotiate with the creditor for a more affordable amount. A loan might be a possibility but would probaby cost you more than the garnishment. Another option might be bankruptcy.

Try contacting the creditor and see what you can negotiate.

Was this $6000 discharged as part of the 2004 bankruptcy? If so, then you should show the bankruptcy papers to employer and they will release the garnishment.

You can still negotiate with them then. But you can't refile. So you are caught between a rock and a hard place.
