limits to creditor harrassment

What are the laws relating to collections done by the creditor?

We are a month behind on our mortgage. We were two months but with weekly payments we got one month caught up.

Our mortgage company would call our home several times a day and never leave a message. I think maybe once a week they left a message. They would call one of my contact people multiple times a day as well.

Our phone recently was disconnected because we could no longer afford it. So my mortgage company started calling neighbors who are perfect strangers to us and asking them to come to our home and give us a message to call them. They would give out our address to these people as well as our name. We live in a mobile home park and they even called our mobile home park manager and they told him that we were in danger of being repossessed!!

Now that CAN"T be legal, can it??? I have sent them a letter telling them that all business will be conducted in writing only because of numerous "miscommunications". They refuse to do this. They even called my husband at his place of employment. He is the assistant manager at a very busy convenience store. He was the ONLY person on duty at the time and had no time to talk. He told them not to call him at work but they just kept calling. At least 6 times in one hour. And this was on Labor day, a federal holiday but this creditor was working!

Please advise us as to what we can do to get these people to STOP harrassing us like this? We are making weekly payments...Thank you!
