debt -validation and court

I went to court today and entered a plea of denial against a zombie debt company...the judge sent it to mediation...However the CA (collection agency) doesn't want to mediate for 60 days During this time frame can I still request a validation of debt from the plaintiff which is the CA that is trying to obtain a judgement against me.... Also as soon as I returned home from court their was a letter in my mailbox from their lawfirm asking me to either settle or proceed forward for a judgement.. What can I do?
