Garnishing Spouses Wages

My sister has an old debt from 3yrs ago. She is now married and the debt collector has told her they are going to garnish her and her new husbands wages. Can they garnish his wages for her old debt? Debt is a credit card and her husbands name was NEVER added on.
Thanks!
Nashville, TN

No they can not, but remember collection people will tell you they are sending the police to get you, they will tell you that they are going to take your car, your house, your TV set.

It is called lying, and once you find a collection company doing that, have no dealing with them on the phone at all, tell them to communicate with you in writing only.
