| Frozen bank account with unemployment insurance funds I had a debt owing to a landlord in Alberta, Canada. This landlord actually evicted me for taking in a roommate (because the rent was too much for one person to handle 1625.00 per month) then later sued me for non payment of rent (I was 1 month behind) and breaking the lease. He went to court and won a judgement against me in the amount of $3847.00 (the amount I was behind plus a penalty for breaking the lease). I did put a written submission to the courts as I was unable to attend the actual court date due to being out of town dealing with a family matter. I was unaware that this landlord had won his case and I was not made aware until my bank account got frozen. The only money that was deposited into my account was from unemployment insurance which I was not able to catch in time before the funds were deposited to the account. Now the money sits there and nothing is being done with it. I am a single mother of one and in desperate need of these funds as it was my only source of income. Is there anything I can do to have this recitified so I can gain access to at least some of this money? I am not sure because of the fact that the funds are from unemployment insurance and this situation has left me in a very bad way.
Hopefully there is some advice for me to work this out... |
