Finding a debt

I have on old debt in Canada from about 5 years ago while I was on a working holiday from Australia. The company I had the debt with has since been sold and I have no idea what happened to the debt as I have admittedly not made a payment since I left. I have tried getting a credit report but as I have no current address in canada or any ties there I cant get one.

Is there any way I can find who has this debt?

Is there any way they can find me?

If the company had an address for you in Australia then yes, they could have sold the debt file to a collection agency in Australia. As for you finding them, im not sure how/if you can go about this, i suppose you have to find the company that bought the company you had the debt with and speak to them if you want to pay it.

They can sell it to a collection agency in australia?? I really cant remember if I gave them an address in Australia. I had an address in Canada at the time so I dont think so. They did have an Australian credit card as proof of identity though, the account still exists but the number has changed a few times since.
