financial judgments in texas

I have serious financial problems & already have 1 credit card judgment. I had a free consultation with an attorney that advised due to the amount of debt, I could file bankruptcy but I didn't have the money to pay for that. He advised that I could just let everything go since I was unable to repay any of the debt. I have received an interrogatory requesting information about my bank accounts ,employer, social security number etc. The attorney already advised me that my wages could not be garnished in Texas but my bank account could. My question is, am I legally required to provide my bank account information, my employers name & address & my social security number? Why would I need to give my employers information if my wages cannot be garnished? I don't want to jeopardize my job by providing this information. Can I refuse to answer this information?

Ok, you jeopardized alot by borrowing more moeny than you could pay.
This is going on your record and can effect your employment in many jobs.
Your credit rating , ie bad debts and judgements can cuase you not to get alot of jobs in alot of fields, or lose those you already have if there is a need for bonding or a secuirty clearance and the such.

And yes if this is a interrogatory you have some obligation to return it.

But I would follow your attorneys advice, don't pay anything that is not food or lights or gas to go to work, Don't keep any money in the bank, and don't use at all any direct deposit for your paycheck, if you do, they get it, as soon as it hits the bank, they can't get your check but they can get the money as soon as it is deposted into a checking or savings account.

You can of course always refuse to answer, and they could perhpas get a court order for this info, but by then hopefully you will have paid your attorney.
