Dishonour of Debt

I recently got a lucrative job teaching in Hatyai Thailand. However, I left the States owing $35,000 USD in college loans. While in America, I never missed one payment and I was never late.

My current problem with NelNet is the method of payment. While in the states, I had them automatically deduct payments straight from my bank account. However, NelNet has refused to do so with my Thai bank. No where in my agreement with NelNet did they say that they would refuse payments using an foreign bank.

I have looked extensively for a bank in Hatyai that has a branch in America but I have not been able to find one. I do not have family members in the states that could look after my american bank account. And to do an international wire transfer would cost over $175 usd per transfer.

I have told Nelnet that the money would be in my bank in USD (not in thai baht) and I have given them the bank account number and everything that they need to make payments. But they have refused and I am running low on options of payment.

what can I do?
