Debt & credit w/student loans

I have been working on repairing my credit for like the past five years; I even paid a company (I 3 Solutions Inc.) To help me do so all they ended up doing was costing me hundreds of dollars and I still have the things on my credit. I went to school back in 1991 I got two Stafford Loans both were for 2625.00 each. At first every thing was o.k. I paid the loans. I lost my job so I called and was eligible for a deferment on the loans. I got back up on my feet I called and set payment plan and started paying again. I changed jobs and a few other things happened and I found myself at the bottom again so I called and asked for a deferment again. One thing leads to another and I never called them back to repay the loans. Over the years they have sold the loans to different places. They are taking my tax returns for the last two years (4288.00) I also made a payment back in 2003 for 350.00 so some company I can’t recall the name of it I stopped making any more payments because they couldn’t tell me anything about how much I owed on the two loans and then they tried to tell me I had four loans not two loans. I have been trying to find out who do I call to find out how much I owe on the loans now. I don’t even know how much I paid on the loans before I asked for the deferments or how to find that information out. I can’t even find the loan paper work that I signed back in 1991 where could I get original copies of the loans I signed the school I went to went out of business many years ago. What I do have are some old credit reports (2000 and 1999) and some old payment books from Sallie Mae (dated back in 2001) a place where I was to mail in my payments and I have a letters from USA group loan services dated back in 1997. On my credit report all this shows up let me try and make this part a little shorter then the first part. Sallie Mae Servicing-Status transferred, closed/past due. This is on their two time. Under potentially negative items. This is the company that has taken my tax return for the last two years. Then I have USA Funds-Status Claim filed with Government/collection account. This is on their two time. Under potentially negative items. Then when you go back to the accounts in good standing I have two from USA Servicing Company different address from the USA Funds company don’t know if maybe they are one of the same or what. Status-Transferred, closed/ never late. This company is on there two times as well. (Experian)
Then I got the TransUnion report.
Under Adverse accounts United Student Aid Funds four different times all with different account # two accounts same amount the other two accounts have different amounts.
I have no idea what step to take first. Any help would be great at this point.

Don't really know much about the situation, so i'll avoid saying to much, but I'm a college student right now and from everything I hear, government stafford loans are some of the worst to default on.

Hope you get back on your feet.
