my bank account was frozen needless to say there was a jugment against me from an old credit card dept the collection agency claims that was my account ,i filed an order to show cause emedeitly and my court date is up soon.but i realy dont know if the account is mine,can i ask for validation of the account they claim is mine at the court date?and what might or could happen when you file an order to show cause for a debt they claim i owe?is there a chance that the jugd could release my account?
I went throught the same thing in January. I explained to the lawyer that I did not think that this was my debt and asked if he could show me proof. He told that to the judge, and the judge gave us a new court date. I had to go to court three times. The last time the lawyer didn't show up, so it was dismissed. I didn't file anything before I showed up, just told them that I didn't believe that it was my debt. I don't know if that makes a difference. I got some very good information from the people here. If you check my posts you'll see what they told me to do.
