Credit

I have recently run into a problem with my credit report in that I have been turned down for even a secured loan. When I got the copy of my report they said I was denied because of “recent collection” there are only 2 recent collections that I saw on my report that they could deny me. One was the “old” support order from another state... which I haven’t been late or even missed a payment in 5 years. However they said that when I moved to another state, the new state took over the dept and reported it as a “new” debt, which it clearly is not. Is there any way to get this off my record?

As for the other debt, I have a great job and as soon as I get a bill I always pay it as to not mess up my credit. The only thing I can think of is that when I moved the letters were never forwarded and they might have sent collection notices to the old address. Is there any way to pay it off and have it removed from my credit since I never received any notices? Usually in the past whenever I have received collection notices they have always come with some kind of return receipt or signature requested. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Ric
