Bankruptcy and court ordered obligations

My ex husband just filed chapter 7 and is trying to write off college expenses he owes me for our daughter's schooling. An exact amount has not been determined by the Judge even though I have been trying to get it settled for the past couple of years. In the middle of everything, the Judge retired and now I'm back to square one. This was the same Judge that ordered him to pay half the college costs originally but since no amount has been determined, is my ex within his rights to discharge this debt through bankruptcy?
