Bank levy and social security

I get direct deposit, my only income is social security, an old credit card debt phoned me today and told me they were going to garnish my checking account-I thought if my income came from social security that they couldn't please help

They may call you and tell you the police will be kicking in your door and dragging you to jail. They may be calling and telling you they will take your parents or your children's home, they may call and tell you that they will come and take your TV and computer. The collection people lie.

They may sue you and try and get a judgement, and they may get a judgement, and if you do not notify the bank of this, they may freeze the account till the court latter figures it out.

You are right on-they asked me if I knew that they had filed a civil case against me at my hometown court-I said no, and was so shocked! I called the court and they said there was nothing filed against me, so again they called and I told them I called the court and there was no case against me and they said that was because it was older and that they had filed it on march 27, 2008 so again, I called the court and they said no, so what a liar they are. But I am getting smarter, I told the guy that I was recording every thing he was saying- so I am wising up
