bank garnishment

I had a judgement against me and just started working again. My checks are direct deposited and I looked at my account today and it ws -24,000.00. How can this be and is there any way to stop it?

How can this be? You have a judgment against you! This gives them the right to attach your bank accounts. Stop your checks being direct deposited.

if they truly have a judgement against you they will usually take double what is owed. If your funds are social security they can not be touched by judgement except taxes child support

ScottGem disagrees: They cannot take anything more than what is owed plus interest and fees. Sometimes these amounts can be double the original prinicpal.

Out of reddies but you are 100% incorrect. SS CAN be touched for school loans and tax obligations.

You are posting consistently incorrect and misleading information.
