| most debit in the us are, in my experience, , mostly instant. but ive noticed mostly on gas and on restaraunts that sometimes its longer. i assume with dining its sometimes delayed with the tip... ive seen immediate debits of different value than the actual amount for a day or so... so it might take a day or two before they are correctly posted. and with gas, sometimes there is a "hold" fee temporarily attached until it clears... sometimes over 100 cash... so you might only want to buy $20 in gas, but need to have $120 or more in the bank to cover the temp fee. pain in the arse sometimes.
and even then, ive seen gas charges take from 1 to 3 days to correctly clear.
so yes... while some are instant, some take a few days to correctly process. |
