is social security money deposited in bank
safe from garnishments or liens from creditors?

If you request an automatic deposit, they will put it in your bank, but what makes you so sure it is safe from garnishments. Anything in your bank account can be taken because after it is in, it isnt desigated, it is all fair game for them. If you dont want your money taken, have them send a cheque each month and cash it.
