returned check after 90 days

I deposited a check from my old employer on 12/8/06. It was cleared and now 70 days later it is showing returned and there taking it back out of my checking. Is this legal? I thought there was a 30 day window for returns. Please Advise!

Hello michael:

I would certainly inquire about it. There isn't any 30 day window. You need to find out WHY it bounced and WHY it took so long.

ws the employer a US company and was it drawn on a US bank ?

If the check was bad, and you work for this company, they should correct the issue and merely issue you a new check.

did they stop payment on it ? why was it retrned.

alittle more details please
