My mom has been dead six years, yet she has money in her account.

I just found out today that my mom has a bank account, even though she is no longer here. Its even listed under my mailing address. How can I go about getting this money?

I'm no lawyer, but I'm thinking that if you go to the bank and prove that a) you are her child b) she has money in your bank c) she is deceased, the bank I would think would work with you.

Whoever took care of her estate can contract the bank, if there is no other name on the account the probate court would assign it according to will or the laws of your state.
