india and china are the likely candidates. india seems more confident right now, china might accelerate if their economy booms more than expected and they can funnel resources outside of economic development.

The thought just came to me as I was writing. Perhaps as a consequence of wishful thinking that envisions that country at peace and its citizens concerned with other matters instead of the present situation. One thing is certain, however, that wherever mankind goes there mankind will be-be it The Moon, Titan, Europa-or Mars. Which means mankind with all its heavy emotional baggage.

As for Iraq, If those fundamentalist muslims don't cut back drastically on the terrorism, car bombings, etc. SOMEBODY SOMEDAY is gonna get their feathers ruffled enough to just turn the whole place into radioactive glass. Add lead shielding to the pipelines and we have an instant candidate for a 51st state - population: 23-no chance of a tie in any vote, in lead-lined suits, of course, (to run the pumps, refineries, etc).
