Who is the artist Ludwig that painted a large nature scene?
    Good afternoon!

I recently obtained a large (48" X 24") oil on canvas painting--depicting an Autumn scene of snowy mountains in the center foreground, with a river (?) reflecting the colors of the Fall trees that are the predominant image (Fall trees are on either side of the water) in this rather large painting. The sky is painted a light blue, with some clouds, mainly around the mountaints. The mountainsts themselves are greenish-grey in color, with snow highlighted.

It also appears as if there are bits of snow here and there (close to the edge of the water). There is a tree at the forefront on the right, which seems to be a Birch (white trunk) with several other various tall trees and "brush" surrounding the river on both sides.

There does not appear to be any wildlife, humans, or hint of "man", save one... there is a small, broken, white fence in the distance on the right, leading from a small hill down towards the edge of the water.

The only marking on the painting is the name "Ludwig" in the lower right-hand corner in burnt-orange color, much the same as the color used in the darkest part of the painting to highlight the Fall foliage.

This painting was given to me as a gift from my neighbor. He was given the painting and it was too large and did not go with his décor. There is nothing known about the artist, no provenance provided, no seller/auction stickers on reverse, and no other visible indicators to tell me the name of the painting, the date created, or the artists first name/origin.

The painting itself is in relatively good condition. While transporting this painting, my neighbor rested the painting against something in his car, and it has a small stretch mark (dimple) where it was up against something (?)that is approximately 1.5" in diameter in the upper part,(about 2" down, and 18" from the right). I am not sure if this will disappear in time, since I was only given the painting last night.

If there is any further information I can provide for you, please do not hesitate to ask. I am attaching photographs for your convienance.

    With sincere thanks,

    Kim

    Hi

You haven't posted the picture nor a closeup of the signature. There are a lot of Ludwigs out there...
