Described as "one of the primary academic painters of the nineteenth century", Jules Breton painted romanticized subjects in a realist style, especially bucolic scenes of peasants working in fields. For some years after his death, his paintings were used as examples of 'bad' painting by modernists, who derided his literal themes of "work, family, home and hearth", but after abstraction lost some of its dominance, his work came back into public favor.

Hpw can i tell if is OLD MASTER OIL reproductions Thanks
I think if possible check out the art dealers in your area,or maybe try a museum.
I am not very sure how things are done in your city.Maybe you could try the yellow pages for art dealers nearby and visit them with your painting.
I do not think yours is an original,so it must be a reproduction and you did mention it was done in oil,but you will have to let an expert look into to see how fine the work is or if possible which company did the reproduction.
Have you checked out the back of the painting, it might have the initials or name of the company which did the reproduction.
I am not an expert in these things, but I love art.
Hopefully someone else on this site maybe able to help you a bit more.
Well I took back of frame off ((no idenity)0 of who printed or made it the only thing with a name is the backing for the protection of cardboard on frame it says it says Crecent Quality Boards and the picture is of a girl in a field with sythe and a bird flying over head its very yellow around the edges and looks like some of the oil has lost imprint around the edge, she has her whole body and is barefoot.
Excellent dialogue and help going on in the posts above!
Sometimes paintings that are popular can be made into prints by a number of companies. Whether or not a print has much value depends on a number of things. How much the quality of colors matches the original painting, how much of the original painting is portrayed in the print, the clarity of the print, how many prints of excellent quality were made and the scarcity of those same excellent quality prints, the quality of the frame if there is a frame.
If it is an original reproduction actually painted by someone, than who painted it can add to the value also. Maybe someone who is a famous artist now did it as a student in studying the style of art that it represents?
I do like the ideas of checking out art dealers or museums in your area.
