Would like to know more about painting

I recently stumbled across a painting of two dogs (possibly 1 dog/1 cat) and have been trying to find out more about it with no luck.
It is framed on an Anco Bilt 24x30 frame.
There is no identifying marks on the back of the painting, only what appears to be the mark of the painter underneath the paw of the white dog.
Might anyone have any information, or know where I might go to learn more about it.
I hope i was able to get this image uploaded

Your images came through loud and clear here! Thank you for providing both a full image of the painting as well as a close-up of the mark of the artist. Is this a painting that you now possess? If so, where did you obtain it, please? We don't guarantee that we can find you more information, but we can try!

The painting was given to me by my grandmother when our family relocated to Florida from Connecticut in the early 90's. I don't know anything else about it. Sorry

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find anything yet. The artist's mark/signature does look to be like a Japanese or Chinese character, though. Also, do you have any idea of what kind of fabric the painting might be on? It almost looks like a natural hemp canvas like you might find on the following links.

Is it possible it was done by a member of your family? Or perhaps somebody your grandmother knew?

You know, that is a good thought, templelane! Perhaps it would help if there were more investigation into the family history. I know that my mom was a pretty good artist. However, most of the best things that she did were done before I was born and when I was too young to remember her doing those kinds of things. I also have some things that a friend of my mom did. But, I would only know because my mom told me about them.

As I had already asked in post #5 above, it would help to know what kind of fabric it is that the painting is on. Thanks!
