Getting back into my art.

I wasn't sure wether to post on the art board or on the mental health one, sorry if I chose the wrong one.lol

I used to be very into my art and it was a great passion of mine. I used it as a way of sorting my own head out and expressing myself. The thing is, I have lost this passion somewhat and am scared to get back into it. I used to love just sitting and painting or just going out and painting a landscape or random people.

I miss it a hell of a lot but just can't seem to get back into it. Whenever I have tried I have just left drawings and paintings unfinished. I have been on anti depressants for a few years now and I know that my depression is the cause of my loss of interest.

I was just wondering wether anyone had any ideas of how I could try and get myself back into my art, to push myself so i'm not so scared anymore.

This may be a silly question I don't know, but I figured I might as well try and see if anyone has any ideas/help for me as I really want to feel as I used to feel about art.

Thanks

Actually, your posting on the Art topic area is perfect! I will alert others to your post. Those of us who are into the artistic type of things here have formed a special kind of bond. Right now, some of us who are regulars on the Art topic area are in bed. We will be in touch with you!

on a very mundane level, you could try drawing a little each day, no matter how disinterested you might feel, even if it's to copy drawings and paintings done by other artists who you admire. This will keep your technical skills oiled, and the act of doing a few drawings may bring back feelings of passion. And it's safe to do that.

Obviously your creativity hasn't disappeared, as it sounds as if you've wanted it to go into hibernation for a while as you learn to deal with strong emotions. You'll most likely experience a resurgence of creativity later on in your life, when you feel more comfortable and sure of who you are.

Our imaginations and emotional lives can seem really scary and overpowering sometimes ~ just a couple of weeks ago I felt like crap (lol). When in fact, it isn't that scary at all. Take a comfortable amount of steps at a time, and you'll be fine. And keep reaching out to other people, as you are here. You're obviously articulate, and the sort of person who will mostly meet with kindness whenever you do

Even though I didn't contribute to The Artist in You thread, I looked at all the artwork and yours was very impressive.
I especially like your new thread Who Arted,
the face and hand print painting really, really caught my eye .
As I was looking at it, I was thinking it would look great in my living room - no joke, I love it that much!

Art is very therapeutic and sharing it on this site like you have been doing
benefits everyone.
It benefits us because we get to look at it, and maybe sharing your artwork with people who really appreciate it will
benefit you and give you an incentive to get back into it.

I got out of my art once and one big factor that helped me
get back into it and make it more enjoyable for me
was being organized and having all my supplies easily accessible.
It's no fun for me if setting up and cleaning up is a hassle.
I have a couple unconventional ways of keeping paint in jars and
styrofoam plates handy LOL.

I hope that it will help you to know that people are out here enjoying the art that you've shared and I hope to see many more.
As a matter of fact, I'll be looking forward to it!
I won't keep silent from now on
