i have an oil, painting that was bought over 35 years ago. it was painted by jn michel. he only used blue and white for his oil paintings. is or was he famous? AND IS THIS PAINTING WORTH anything?

What is the subject matter of the painting? Also, where do you obtain it? For starters, it would help to find out about those things.

I have a picture by "JN Michel, Haiti". It is a picture of people (three women carrying things on their heads, and one man) on their way to or from sail boats. The background is of trees, hills or mountains and straw-roofed huts.
Unlike your picture, however, the colors are mostly black, yellow and orange. There is one blue shadow and some of the people's clothes are blue.
It is an odd-looking painting, I'd say. Especially with black water and yellow sky.
