Sorry should of said it's acrylic on canvas. Although acylic can enter some watercolour competitions (which I will never, ever understand). I did it because I wanted the image for a poster but it hadn't been produced and I couldn't be bothered to find a printers to do it for me.

Well it's beautiful! You are much better with acrylics then I am! Those paints drive me nuts cause you can never know if it's really dry before you try to put paint over it. I perfer tempra myself... and my teacher is teaching me egg tempra. But again beautiful painting ^.^. Would you mind if I put it as a background on my computer? I'm a cat fanatic.

Sure I don't mind. The trick for knowing if it's dry is to tilt the paper towards a light. It's more relective when it's still wet. I have never used tempra, my school wasn't very adventurous with what materials we could use- oils were banned so I never learnt how to use them. They banned acylics for awhile as well. Don't get any time to paint these days but if I ever do I'm going to try those mediums out.

Well even when you tilt it and see a reflection it doesn't mean it's dry. I've started painting shadows on my painting and then the paint under it comes up even if it looked dry.

Templelane, what an amazing talent you have! Although I understand being shy about posting because I felt that way in the beginning, please don't ever be shy to post on this thread. You did a great job with the attachment.

When I paint, Acrylics are my choice! I used oils for years. They affected my allergies a lot and clean up seemed to take me forever! I paint fast so the drying time on acrylic paints is such a blessing to me.

The perspective you had to achieve with this piece, since the hands and cats were projected forward would have been difficult for me! You did great. Did you work from a photograph??? I am anxious to see more of your work!

This is a great thread to be a part of and I am so grateful to FirmBeliver for starting this thread and for all those who have made this such a warm place to be!!!

Yeah I worked from a photo! I love the fast drying of acrylics, I also like how fresh the colours are. Although sometimes I wish I could get the depth that can be achieved with oils, acylics sometimes seem a bit flat and pop arty.

Do you have any acylics up? I had a look but I only found your necklace (very nice by the way) I got a bit behind on the thread for a bit and forgot where I stopped reading.

I might post some more stuff if I locate pictures, I don't own a most of my stuff and seem to have had poor record keeping!

I would like to second the Firmbeliever thread starter appreciation!
