| precedent study suggestions I am in an architectural programming class presently. I was asked to study a precedent to the program that I am developing. Here is a brief summary of the program. The site is in a neighborhood called Freetown, which is the area of my city that freed slaves settled after the abolition of slavery. Adjacent to the site is an historic structure which served as the community gathering space(political, religious etc.) The neighborhood is between a growing university campus and downtown. I am trying to set up mixed use condition that combines housing and communal spaces, specifically an exhibition space that focuses on the history and cultural preservation of the neighborhood. The mission is to allow the community to be integrated into the growing urban context while respecting the history, culture, and sense of community that are aggressively protected by its residents. Can anyone offer suggestions of projects that I might look at as precedents for such a program.(must be in the US, not limited to a single building) Any help would be great. Thanks |
