I just replaced the Wig Wag because it would not go into the spin cycle and eliminate the water, now it skips past the wash cycle and goes to the filling up cycle and starts to spin very slow eliminating the water. I have a new pump as well, so what could it be? Kenmore Heavy Duty Model #82392800. It was working perfectly until the Wig wag went out. Help!

Sounds like you have the yellow and red leads reversed on the wig wag...That would get you a spin/drain when it's supposed to be agitating. Try reversing the leads on the wig wag and starting the washer at a spin setting at the end of a cycle and see what happens.

Thanks for responding. I had a repair guy come today and take a look at it, he said that the cluch is gone and it would cost to much to fix it and I would be better off buying another washer. I don't get it. I tried reversing the connections on the wig wag, it spins really fast while the lid is up now and the agitator is going also at the same time. Can a cluch be that costly to replace? I'd like to give it a try before giving up. Everything else seems sound. If I have to do a complete overhaul, I'd rather do that first but where do I start.

You probably had those 2 wig wag wires on right to begin with. Whirlpool stopped production on these washers around 1980. That puts this washer at about 26 years old. That is well beyond the intended useful life. I would (and do) talk my head off to stop someone from even replacing a belt on these units because I've seen (way too many times) people put seemingly small amounts into them to solve a relatively minor problem only to have a much larger problem(s) that surfaces afterward. I see the regret in their faces when in your position, and I really can't stand that. I will say that in 15 years I have never changed a clutch in one of these machines, and I have only changed one transmission. He's right; they're just not worth it. Considering what it would cost to replace the unit, I would seriously recommend replacing the machine. As a company that sells new and reconditioned appliances, we stopped even thinking about these machines years ago. Therefore, I couldn't even begin to help you with any overhaul measures. Sorry.
