Whirlpool Washer Spin

I have a whirlpool washer that will not go into final spin.
You have to manual turn the tub clockwise about two turns,
Re-set the switch to final spin, close the lib, then it will go into final spin.
What is the problem or do I need to replace the switch.

When did you open the lid? The lid must be closed for it to go into spin.

If the lid is closed, then I'm still not leaning towards the lid switch, as it is apparently going into its first spin. Based on what you said, I'm kind of leaning towards the timer, but check that lid switch first.

My whirlpool washer will not go into spin cycle on any of the settings. I have tried keeping the lid open and using a emall srew driver to engage the lid switch. Is it time to but a new washer?

Check the coupler between the motor and the transmission
