Whirlpool washer agitator doesn't work and its agitating me!
I have a whirlpool top-loading washer that came with our house. The water will fill to the appropriate level but the agitator won't start. I figured out (out of rage :)) that the agitator will start working if you bang on the left side of the machine with the lid down. It would work most times but sometimes it would make a clicking noise instead. I would turn the knob and re-select the cycle, bang on the machine and presto, it would work. Well now that's not happening. It won't even start anymore. I have a tub full of water and clothes and I'm not sure how to fix it! I would like to have some kind of idea of whether I can fix it myself or what to tell a repairman if it comes to that. Please help if you know what the problem is. Your help is very much appreciated.
