Fridigaire Dryer

My dryer has been make a strange noise like metal rubbing against metal. I found a piece of felt and goes between the rotating drum and stationary frame. The glue has dried and the felt won't stay in place. When the felt is in place the dryer is quiet, but once falls out of place it makes the noise again. What kind of glue should I use to hold the felt in place?

The felt is just a piece of thermal isolation. The reason it won't stay in place is because the drum is "leaning" on it. That indicates that something is wrong with the mounting of the drum.
Either the bearing is loose or it is worn out.
DISCONNECT THE POWER CABLE AND PUT IT ON THE GROUND IN FRONT OF YOU : SAFETY FIRST!
Some machines have teflon rollers to carry the drum at the window side.
Check the bearing (and if mounted the rollers). But I fear you better look asap for a dryer "special".

Many dryers have a brown felt strip over the door -- there is supposed to be a piece

of White plastic on the felt strip -- the front of the drum rides on the plastic strip...

Your plastic strip is gone -- the drum is riding on the felt strip or metal -- the drum is

dropped down in front and the rear bearing may need replaced as well...Usually when

this happens clothes get caught by the turning drum and torn by the metal edge or

marked with a brown mark from felt strip... Probably best to replace front wear strip

and rear bearing ...I have a video -- NOT YOUR DRYER -- shows how to get in your

dryer... Video taping how you tear apart your dryer may help you remember how to put

it back together...

How to Replace the Motor on a Dryer

YOU WILL PROBABLY NEED THIS Belt Installation People tend to forget how belt was routed
