Wahing Machine drain problem

Hey folks,
first time homeowner overwhelmed by his plumbing.
My washing machine drain keeps backing up during the spin cycle.

I had rotorooter come out to look for clogs, but they said there was no blockage, only a faulty installation of the drainage which does not allow the pump to filter water past the 2' P trap about 15' from the drain point. That's right, I said a 2' P trap.

The plumbing runs about 3' up the wall. Not sure why they did it that way, but it's what I've got to work with.

I've tried a few things already (added 6" vertical pipe to the hose / drain connection & added vented rubber hose / pipe connector) but even with the new height, I'm still overflowing.

The tricky thing is, once the initial pressure is built up, the drain works fine.

I thought about shortening the Ptrap to 8-10", but did not know what that would mean for the flowback into the pipes.

any ideas??

wayne

I would repost this under plumbing where Tom, our top man will see it. Give him some more details. Do you have the standard maybe 4 foot standpipe and then the line runs horizontal to P trap that goes down 2 feet and back up? Is there a vent where it turns and goes down after the P trap?
