small nails fell in washind machine

What happens to the wash machine if a few small nails
(tacks) fall into the machine? Will it be dmamged if I try to run the machine. It is a whirlpool ultimate care heavy duty super capacity plus.

concerned that some of the nails may have fallen thru the drain holes in the tub.
