    Maytag dryer Model LDE482
The dryer won't spin. I disconnected the belt and it still wouldn't spin. I took the motor out and it will turn 1/8 turn in either direction but no more.

Is there an electric brake on these things or should it spin freely by hand with no power on?

The ohmmeter shows 1-2 ohms between the leads.

Why 3 leads? Is it because it is a 240V motor instead of a 110V motor?

Thanks for any insight you may offer.

If the motor won't spin, you have a bad motor. Bearings are frozen, or there is an obstruction inside.

No, the motor is 110VAC. Need schematic to determine what purpose the leads have.
