    Ice maker/water dispenser not working
We had a Kenmore Elite Trio refrigerator installed a couple of days ago. The installers hooked up the existing water line to the ice maker/water dispenser. It was working while they were there. The installers did not push the refrigerator into the location because we had to trim a cabinet. My husband trimmed the cabinet and moved the fridge back into the correct location but crimped the copper water line. Water would not flow to the dispenser. From the basement, he removed the crimped section and reattached it. He also checked and cleaned out the filter nearby. The water will flow clear through the filter but does not reach the refrigerator. What else do we need to check before we call a plumber?

Here is what I suggest.. If you have water getting to the fridge, then no need to call a plumber, as most plumbers don't work on appliences. About as far as we(plumbers) go is the connection to fridge. It sounds like there is a problem in the fridge itself, for which you will need an applience repair man. Get ahold of the store that sold you the fridge, and ask them if they can service(repair), or replace it. Hope this helps. Lee.

Where is the filtr located, is it behind the fridge or is it in the basement. The reason I ask that if you did not replace all of the copper tubing going to the fridge it might still have a crimp in it.

But I would do what mygirlsdad said above, call the store.

I would say pull the fridge out and check the line from the filter to the fridge before calling for service. You probably crimped the line in more than one place.

Great info above. Please let us know if you have water to the connection at fridge. Also, I would suggest switching out the copper tubing for a stainless steel braided flex line (1/4x1/4). Or even 1/4 inch plastic tubing with inserts(but I like the ss braided better). This way, you will not have to worry about kinking the line anymore, and you will be able to slide the fridge in and out as much as you like for cleaning etc. The ss braided come in a wide variedy of lengths, better to be to long than to short. The water line from the ice maker to the water inlet valve keeps slipping out. I push it in and it seems tight then several days later it is out again. Is there a trick to keeping it in? Thanks for any help.

It depends on what kind of fitting you are using. Most fridge's have a compresin fitting and requres a ferrel to tighten the tubing into the fitting.

Send us a picture of the fitting if you can.
