Searching for amps on gas dryers

Asked Jul 13, 2012, 10:21 PM — 4 Answers
Most plate data gives you something like 120V 60hz 10amps, this is on my washer. However, my gas dryer has a plate that says 120V 60hz 6 A, Gas NAT Input: 22000 btu/hr.

Is that 6 A referring to amps? I have tried every place I can think to find out how many amps the dryer uses, after all it uses electricity for the motor at least. I even tried to find the motor and see if I could get it there, but all the motor information says is it's 60hz.

Does anyone know how to find out this information. Thank you very much.

Yes, the 6 A refers to the 6 amp electrical input requirement of the dryer.

You can prove it out with an Amprobe, just clamp around the wire and read Amps.
If you have a need to see the current used on different things, they are a good investment.

Everyone, thank you for your help. This has been driving me nuts, especially since the manufacturer service/help couldn't find the info and no one seemed to know what the 6 A meant.
